*SANGLAAN:Directed by: Milo Sogueco

Sanglaan looks at seemingly simple relationships and uncomplicated events happening in a very mundane institution. A religious and single-minded businesswoman with a losing proposition, afraid of old age. A timid, vulnerable girl hopelessly in love with a high school crush. A security guard whose wife has a fragile heart. A charming and mysterious seaman just passing through. And a loan shark who won’t take “no” for an answer.  These are some of the characters that populate the milieu of Sanglaan, a light, funny, poignant and very Pinoy story about hope and redemption.

Astig (Mga Batang Kalye): directed by GB SAMPEDRO
ASTIG is an episodic tale of four young men whose stories parallel and contrast with the landmarks and various images of Manila. It tells the story of Ariel, a conman who has to leave his girlfriend upon learning that she is in love with him; Boy, an expectant young father who has to sell his body to pay his wife’s hospital bill; Ronald, a Chinese mestizo who is coming to grips with his identity; and Baste, an overly protective son of an OFW who has to avenge his sister. The film tells the stories of the tough guys of Manila and their resolve to survive the dirt and filth of the “Distinguished and Ever Loyal City.”

Cinemalaya is on its seventh year this 2011!

"Today I don't feel like doing anything,.I just wanna lay in my bed,.Don't feel like picking up my phone, so leave a message at the tone,.'Cause today I swear I'm not doing anything" --alarm ng phone ko..exact 4:00 in the morning. But today is one of my most awaited day every month of July! It's July 19,2011. "capture the moment, take lots of pictures, you can never have enough of them."

My most favorite part of this event! syempre,..ano pa nga ba? eh di ang ang nauuwi laging "photoshoot!" kahit saan mapapwesto todo take ng photos! haha!

I love photos because the best thing about them is that they never change even when the people in them change and they remind you of the amazing feelings

Let's GO to the movies we watched this year!!!

ANG SAYAW NG DALAWANG KALIWANG PAA by Alemberg Ang and Alvin Yapan

Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa explores the intersection and divergence between feminist and gay concerns in the third world context, as it features the poetry of Merlinda Bobis, Ruth Elynia Mabanglo, Joi Barrios, Rebecca Anonuevo, Benilda Santos and Ophelia Dimalanta.

-actually I am so confused about the movie is. I keep on asking why the title is ''Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa'', what it is all about, what's the concept of this film. As I'm watching the movie I thought it was just a normal love story that a student fall in love on his teacher which is older than him. I saw and feel the effort of Marlon to his professor in literature. The film start with a literature poem which is read by ms. . It makes me feel bored and felt sleep for a few minutes at the middle of the film because even I'm so eager to find out the answers on my question i can't understand the flow of the story at first. The movie use cultural songs that makes me laugh sometimes that erase my sleepy mood, somehow it helps me. I appreciate the film and also understand it at last specially when I saw a tear from Dennis at the end.Thumbs for the literature poem translated to a song!

BUSONG by Auraeus Solito

Punay was born with wounds in her feet so that she cannot step on the earth. Her brother, Angkarang, carries her through a hammock, as he searches the changing landscape of Palawan in hoping to find a healer who can cure Punay. Different people help him carry his sister along the way- a woman looking for her husband, a fisherman who lost his boat and a young man who is searching for himself- and each one meets their fate. CAST: Alessandra de Rossi, Dax Alejandro, Clifford Banagale PRODUCTION: Cinematography-Louie Quirino, Editing-Chuck Gutierrez, Production Design-Hai Balbuena, Music and Sound-Diwa de Leon, Executive Producer-Jong de Castro, Screenplay-Kanakan-Balintagos and Henry Burgos, Script Consultant-Armando Y. Lao, Produced by-Auraeus Solito, Hai Balbuena, Baby Ruth Villarama, Chuck Gutierrez and Alfred Vargas, Director-Auraeus Solito.
"Busong" akala ko ito yung tawag sa pag hindi naubos yung pagkaen, ganito ko inexplain sa mga kasama ko ibig sabihin ng word na yan, pinagtatalunan kasi namin that time kung bakit "busong",..haha..habang pinapanood namin mali pala ako. Hindi ko din maintindihan nung una kung ano ba talaga ibig sabihin. This film is very nice it shows different story. Breathtaking yung ibang scenes for me. Ang ganda din ng video lalo na sa mga angles na pinapakita nila, it seems like mysterious film and very cultural. It also shows some traditional things that the older people do and people beliefs. I feel so amaze for those places I've seen in this movie! I extremely appreciate this film it's so amazing.
LIGO NA U LAPIT NA ME by Noel Ferrer, Jerry Gracio and Erick Salud

Karl Vladimir Lennon J. Villalobos, aka Intoy, is secretly in love with his friend Jenny, the most beautiful girl in the campus. Jenny is rich and quirky; Intoy is street-smart and ordinary. But this friendship is not simple, since Jenny has bestowed on Intoy some perks and privileges, including going to bed with her on the condition that they will not fall in love with each other.

This film was awesome! I like the strategy they use, yung lead actor na lalaki din ang voice over. Kwento na parang totoong buhay, medyo bitin ako sa film na to, pagkatapos kasi I still keep thinking if what happened to Jenny! haha. nakaka-carried away lang.

"How great Filipino directors we have! Ang artistic ng mind nila and I extremely appreciate their films!"

----->see you next time! CINEMALAYA 8! I cant wait for you!
